Ants

Dustin Marchello | Dec 21, 2023

The carpenter ants receive the most attention because they are seen commonly in trees and poles. I believe they regulate the development of the column, and if anything, decreases the development of fungal pathogens. Ants live in the trees; the galleries are their home. They keep the galleries clear of debris and allow air to circulate. Such conditions are not best for the growth of decay causing fungi. Do not blame the decay on the ants.

Ants are a great example for us and how they care for the trees they live in.

Keeping our own landscape clean, open and cared for goes along way in keeping dangerous fungus at bay.
